Fashion Alert!

So the other day I went shopping in Esplanade Mall and I bought the cutest summer outfit for only $30! As some of you may have noticed maxi dresses have been very popular lately so I was so excited when I found this extremely cute maxi dress at Bloom for only $15 dollars! Then I found the cutest casual summer top at American Eagle that I thought looked adorable over my maxi and added a little something extra to my outfit. I then finished off the outfit with a cute pair of sandals but a pair of casual wedges would look cute too. Let me know some great, affordable finds that you find!

OPA!

OPA! So a few weeks ago in honor of Greek fest I decided to make a Greek lunch for my family. I made some grilled lemon chicken skewers with grilled veggies from a recipe I found from a website called "a hint of honey" and as a little appetizer i put together a raw veggie plate with this new dip by Oikos which was delicious! It was a cucumber and dill yogurt dip and it tasted just like Tzatziki sauce. YUM-O! I did attend Greek fest and it was so much fun; however I went at night for a short time and didn't have much money to spend so all I ate was some Baklava, but I must say it was some of the best baklava I have ever had! To burn of the box of Baklava I ate, my friends and I joined some people on the dance floor for some Greek dancing, which is a lot harder than it looks! but I'm determined and by next year I will hopefully have mastered the Greek dance! I must say Greek food is probably one of my favorite kinds of foods. I love grape leaves, gyro, chicken shawarma, and of course hummus. My mouth is watering just thinking about it all. And for those of you who have never had Greek food and are intimidated by these weird name I have some advice... DON'T BE Afraid! It's delicious! Just go to Byblos and try some I promise you'll love something even if it's just the hummus and pita bread or the baklava.
Cucumber Dill Dip, perfect for dipping some veggies & the chicken

The finished product!

Marinated Greek Chicken Skewers:

INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 lbs. boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into 1-inch pieces
4 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil, divided
4 garlic cloves, crushed
1-2 tsp. dried oregano
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground black pepper
2 Tbsp. freshly squeezed lemon juice

1/2 red onion, quartered
1 green bell pepper, cut into 1 inch pieces
1 red bell pepper, cut into 1 inch pieces

DIRECTIONS
1. In a medium bowl, coat chicken in 2 Tbsp. olive oil, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Marinate 30 minutes. In a small bowl, whisk together 2 Tbsp. olive oil and lemon juice. Set aside.

2. Preheat outdoor grill or indoor grill pan to medium-high heat. Discard marinade and thread skewers (if using wooden, make sure to soak them in water for 20 minutes first to prevent burning) alternating chicken and vegetables. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Grill, turning and basting occasionally with the olive oil-lemon mixture, until the chicken is just cooked through. Serve immediately.

Serves 4.
*if you don't have skewers I also tried it by just putting a whole chicken breast on the grill and it tated just as good. It just takes a little longer.

FASHION:
Just in case you were wondering,  I wore this cute sundress that I got from Target to Greek fest . I must say Target has a lot of cute clothes and accessories for low prices. I always find cute thing things there! I also bought a really cut casual skirt the same time a bought this dress and I love them both! I highly recommend going to take a stroll around Target and see what you find.

First Destination: Jazz Fest

The first destination on my journey is Jazz Fest. This was my first time at Jazz Fest and i had the best time ever, if you have never been it is something you should experience. You can relax and listen to music as well as stuff your face with the overwhelming amount of delicious food it has to offer! I was so overwhelmed by all of the food i had no idea what to get. I wanted it all! So much food, so little time...

Now you see my problem
One thing i got was a plate of heaven which consisted of crawfish beignets, a crawfish sack, & an oyster pattie... Yum
This is the face you make when you taste heaven

To cool off I enjoyed a mango freeze, which is light and refreshing and a spumoni from New Orleans famous Angelo Brocato's. What more could you ask for?

And last but certainly not least i also had an alligator pie which was just as heavenly as everything else, it had a creamy inside with a delicious crunchy outside. And to finish it off I had the most amazing dessert ever, it was white chocolate bread pudding.....mmmmmm...It was so delicious and rich i could eat it all day!

Finally time for fashion. The first weekend was gorgeous sunny weather so I wore some high waisted jean shorts from buffalo exchange and a lace top along with my handy dandy Keds, sandals would work to but count on your feet getting a little dirty. But for the second weekend the whether was not so great (but Adam Levin definitely brightened up the day) so I wore my trusty rain boats which came in handy while trekking through the mushy mud, a sundress, and since it was a little chilly I wore a jean shirt which works great as a jacket.
Jazz fest was a blast and you really can't go wrong with an outfit, wear whatever you want. It is a good time to try a risky, bold outfit too.
